Our Northern Spain Escorted Motorhome Experience ‘Go West’ Live Tour follows the route of my Amazon Nº.1 Bestselling book and is an exceptional opportunity to explore the region.Twice yearly and featuring excursions to historic villages, coastal towns, ancient caves, and even a museum of torture, there is a wide range of attractions to suit everyone’s interests. Our itinerary combines off-the-beaten-path destinations, well-known cities, towns, and popular tourist spots.
We aim to provide a laid-back tour that incorporates cycling, leisurely walks, urban exploration, and indulgence in exquisite Spanish cuisine alongside the finest, award winning, local beers and wines.
Additionally, we welcome dogs, making it an ideal choice for those who wish to bring their beloved pets along.
Itinerary / Route
San Sebastian
Arrive midday in beautiful San Sebastian, Northern Spain. There will be a welcome meeting in the afternoon where you will have an opportunity to ask questions, socialise and receive your welcome pack. The city has amazing churches, beautiful buildings and a wide sandy beach, described as one of the best city beaches in Europe. But what San Sebastian is most famous for, is its food. It’s renowned for its Basque cuisine and boasts the second most Michelin stars per capita in the world.
Included: Welcome drinks, Walking Tour of San Sebastian, Group meal/barbecue at campsite.
Bilbao
Travel to Bilbao (62 miles), with its famous Guggenheim museum, top quality food and wine, and a historic old town that you can easily explore on foot. Excursion to Plentzia. This cosy and pleasant coastal town is located just 15 miles from Bilbao, on a beautiful bay that it shares with neighbouring Gorliz. Founded in 1299, Plentzia has a picturesque and ancient old quarter of medieval origin and it’s worth disappearing into the narrow streets and admiring authentic gems such as the 16th century church of Santa María Magdalena.

Somo/Santander
Travel to Somo/Santander (66 miles). Beach and city days. Somo is a surfing village that sits directly opposite Santander. Here we have a couple of days to relax & chill at the beach or discover what Santander has to offer!
Ferry ticket across the bay of Santander & entrance to the Museum of Prehistory of Cantabria included.
Santillana del Mar
Travel to Santillana del Mar (32 miles), known for its medieval towers, Renaissance palaces and the Romanesque Santa Juliana Collegiate Church. Explore the cobbled streets.
Entrance to the Spanish Inquisition Museum of Torture and Afternoon Tea/Coffee & cake included.
Later, head down to San Vicente de la Barquera, Cantabria. One of the best coastal towns in Spain must be San Vicente de la Barquera. This medieval village has a hilltop castle, church, beautiful beaches with a spectacular estuary and deep connections to the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage route.

Potes
Travel to Potes (51 miles), one of the most beautiful towns in Cantabria, and indeed the whole of Spain. Its streets, crossed by numerous bridges, feature centuries-old buildings and monuments. Potes was the home of the son of King Alfonso XI of Castile, and from 1445 belonged to the Marquis of Santillana, and his descendants, the Dukes of the Infantado.
Excursion/hike to The Santo Toribio Monastery (housing the largest known piece of Jesus’s cross) and Group Meal included.
LLanes
Travel to LLanes (39 miles). A magical medieval city, still housed within crumbling walls, with an active harbour set along beautiful waterways and fantastic beaches. We’ll take a walk along Paseo de San Pedro. This pathway, linking the town and port, takes you high above Llanes for dramatic coastal scenery and spectacular views of the Bay of Biscay, as well as sweeping views of the medieval centre backed by the Picos de Europa.
Ribadesella
Travel to Ribadesella (56 miles). The historic town of Ribadesella was founded by King Alfonso X the Wise in the 13th century. It offers visitors an interesting mix of a medieval town and an amazing beach plus coastal walks.

Tapia de Casariego
Travel to Tapia de Casariego (114 miles). A couple of days to relax, wander around the beautiful fishing port and enjoy a wine or two on one of the many terraces along the pier. Stroll along the town’s promenade, heading towards the fishing port and you’ll be treated to breathtaking vistas of the Tapia cliffs or bathe in the natural saltwater pool. Activities nearby include hiking, cycling or running along the Camino de Santiago.

Foz
Travel to Foz (22 miles) via the famous Las Catedrales beach. Foz, with almost 15 km of beaches of fine white sand, its marshlands are home to one of the largest marine bird colonies of northwest Spain. The estuary is a natural paradise for all types of birds. Foz has lots of fantastic views and landscapes. As close as you’ll get to feeling like you’re in the Caribbean!
Santiago de Compostela
Travel to Santiago de Compostela (113 miles). Destroyed by the Muslims at the end of the 10th century, the city was completely rebuilt in the following century. With its Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque buildings, the Old Town of Santiago is one of the world’s most beautiful urban areas. The oldest monuments are grouped around the tomb of St James and the cathedral, which contains the remarkable Pórtico de la Gloria.

Baiona
Travel to Baiona (72 miles), our final destination. A strategic port full of history, Baiona is a beautiful medieval city with a past that can be relived while walking through its charming streets. It is to this harbour that one of Christopher Columbus’ ships, the Pinta, arrived after discovering the New World. On the edge of town is the Castelo de Monterreal. Medieval walls surround what was once a royal fortress but have now been converted into the lovely Parador de Baiona.
